Sometimes we may suggest sealants should be placed as a preventative measure on newly formed adult teeth. This is usually because some teeth form with deep crevices which catch food and plaque and can be difficult to clean properly. With minimal to no drilling, we can place a tooth coloured resin in these areas which creates a smooth, cleanable surface. Fissure sealants may be especially suitable for children with a past history of tooth decay as it helps eliminate one of the major risk factors.
